Sink your hands into Scripture at any age:
baking bread and learning theology in a tangible way.

The power of daily bread

We are all spiritually formed through rhythms and practices that make up our days, like reading, eating, and worshiping God. Bake with the Bible offers a family-friendly way to dive deep into the meaning of bread in Scripture, in Christian tradition, and in history—a simple food that has formed Christians for generations.

You’re never too young (or too old) to sink your hands into dough — or into Scripture.

Kids and teenagers are eager to understand their faith, and they often learn through doing. By stepping into the kitchen together, you can help the children around you develop an embodied faith practice, give them a positive experience with food, and invite meaningful conversations into your every day.

Bread is an important part of daily life for most people around the world. Images of bread show up throughout the Bible, and breaking bread has been part of Christian worship since Christianity’s earliest days.

Our recipes are designed to help each participant's baking skills grow week by week.

Whether you’re new to bread making or you’ve been baking for decades, each lesson is designed to create an embodied practice for engaging with God for all levels of kitchen expertise. Over the next six weeks, your children and youth will discover the nearness of God, who meets us on our hands and in our bellies via bread.

While the language in Bake with the Bible is geared towards a youthful audience, many adults have used the program and found it to be incredibly rich. Consider pairing it with a virtual Bake & Pray workshop to deepen the experience for adults! These recipes have not been formulated for gluten-free baking, but the lessons, prayers, and readings are nourishing no matter one’s dietary needs.

Testimonials

We used the Bake With the Bible curriculum in order to find a way to include our children in our bi-monthly community meal. Not only were our children given the opportunity to share their gifts, they were given the opportunity to share their laughter and reflection too. I cannot sing enough praises for this curriculum!
— Dustin Mailman, Pastor of Trinity UMC
We are LOVING Bake with the Bible at our church. Everyone keeps saying how spectacular the curriculum is and how much we love it.
— Camille Loomis, Minister of Spiritual Formation at First Baptist Greenville
I’ve long struggled to find anything for my kids that they enjoy (or I enjoy)...Bake with the Bible taps into bringing spiritual direction to kids. They are invited to experience the beauty and character of God through stories and baking. The kids love every class!
